Severe Depression
Depression is a debilitating neuropsychological disease. Its incidence is increasing in many countries including the US. In addition, the age of onset is getting younger. Governments and pharmaceutical professionals are seeking measures, the new antidepressant drugs have continued to emerge, but its effect is still unsatisfactory, and side effects daunting.
In this clinic, acupuncture has been used to treat various degrees of depression with surprising effects. although the results are preliminary but encouraging.
Case A：A middle-aged male engineer suddenly suffered from unbearable depression that he could not work. When all the detailed examinations were done in a well-known medical center, a severe depression was diagnosis by a neurologist and a psychiatrist together. After four months of hospitalization, treated with the best anti-depressant medicine, even no improvement in his condition was noticed. After discharge, the patient was brought to this clinic, only 2 times acupuncture treatments, he could drive under supervision and and greeting to others. He said "I am a new person now". After more than ten times of treatment he was able to work half a day, a few months after he resumed his full time work. After a year without acupuncture or any drugs,, he was still in good spirits and competent his regular work.
Case B：A middle school student has been diagnosed depression with antidepressants in service. Her mother could not bear to see her child on a long-term medication regimen and finally persuaded her daughter to take acupuncture treatment. After a few minutes on the needles, the patient asked to buy a few things she likes. This surprised the mother since the patient had lost interest in everything and had never wanted anything since the start of this problem. Only small needles without any drugs are able to cure a big illness with rapid entry into force of effects and without toxic or side effects. Would not puzzling? In fact, not a mystery, though. Needles, although small, are able to stimulate bioelectric current and further to quickly change the brain's neurotransmitters affecting mood. No drugs wins the drugs, would not happy indeed.
